Super Eagles star and reigning 2024 African Player of the Year, Ademola Lookman, is on the brink of achieving another career milestone as Atalanta prepares to take on Udinese in a Serie A clash this Saturday, January 11, at the Bluenergy Stadium.
Lookman, who has been a standout performer for Atalanta, is just one goal away from reaching 50 career goals across Europe’s top five leagues. The 27-year-old forward has already netted 11 goals in the English Premier League, five in the German Bundesliga, and 33 in Serie A, bringing his total to 49.
Should he score, Lookman would also become the first player to record double-digit goals in Serie A for three consecutive seasons, according to Opta statistics.
“Ademola Lookman (13 goals in 2022/23, 11 in 2023/24, and nine in the current season) could become the first player to reach double figures for goals in each of the last three Serie A seasons. Furthermore, the next one will be the 50th goal for the Nigerian striker in the top five European leagues,” Opta noted, as cited by Calcio Atalanta.
Lookman’s next goal will also mark his 10th of the current Serie A season, solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s most consistent attackers.
Since joining Atalanta, Lookman has been pivotal to their success, featuring in 77 Serie A matches, alongside appearances in the Europa League, Champions League, Coppa Italia, UEFA Super Cup, and Italian Super Cup. Across these competitions, he has scored 44 goals and provided 24 assists, showcasing his dual capability as both a finisher and a playmaker.
With Atalanta vying for a return to the top of the Serie A table, Lookman’s form will undoubtedly be crucial in their efforts against Udinese this weekend.
