Nigerian football sensation Yaqub Usman-Malah has taken a major leap in his burgeoning career by signing with Brito Sporting Club, a historic Portuguese team founded in 1956.
The 18-year-old forward was officially unveiled by the club, showcasing his potential to shine on the European stage.
Born in Nigeria in 2006, Yaqub refined his footballing skills at the Brooke House College Football Academy in the United Kingdom. During his time there, he delivered remarkable performances, scoring 17 goals in 32 matches across 2,270 minutes of play. Notably, Yaqub managed to maintain peak fitness, avoiding injuries during 116 rigorous training sessions.
Tomasz Wasylik, head coach of Brooke College’s Under-17B team, spoke highly of Yaqub’s abilities, citing his technical skill, tactical adaptability, and leadership qualities. “Yaqub is not only an exceptionally versatile player but also a role model for his teammates. His professionalism and work ethic set him apart,” Wasylik stated.
During the 2023/24 season, Yaqub further demonstrated his talent in the National School Cup competitions, earning a reputation as a dependable and dynamic player. His standout performances caught the attention of Brito Sporting Club, leading to this pivotal opportunity to advance his football journey.
