Man poisons wife 12 times to marry her daughter

Alfred Ruf, a 71-year-old man from India, has been sentenced to four years in prison after admitting to poisoning his wife’s drinks in a sinister plan to kill her and marry her daughter.

Ruf’s confession revealed a shocking scheme involving the use of drugs like cocaine and MDMA to slowly poison his wife, Liza Bishop, 51, over several months.

Ruf pleaded guilty to aggravated battery posing a risk of death. The case, which dates back to 2021, began when Bishop started experiencing mysterious health issues, including severe headaches, drowsiness, and diarrhea.

Despite multiple hospital visits, doctors were unable to pinpoint the cause until tests showed she had drugs in her system that she had never knowingly taken. Suspicion grew when Bishop noticed a powdery residue in her Coca-Cola cans.

In January 2022, with her symptoms worsening, Bishop contacted the authorities. Ruf eventually confessed to her, admitting he had been drugging her drinks.

He later told law enforcement that the drugs were provided by her 31-year-old daughter, with whom he was having a sexual relationship.

According to court documents, Ruf revealed that the daughter and her friend instructed him to spike Bishop’s drinks to keep her unconscious for long periods, during which they would visit the house, dress in Bishop’s clothes, and engage in sexual acts.

The ultimate goal, as Ruf confessed, was for the daughter to marry him after her mother’s death, allowing them to benefit from her life insurance policy.

Ruf admitted to poisoning Bishop’s drinks on at least 12 occasions between September and December 2021, knowing that the drugs could eventually kill her.

In addition to his prison sentence, Ruf was also given five years of probation. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities still looking into the involvement of two other suspects, though no further arrests have been made.
