Renowned media personality, Dele Momodu, has advised Nigerians to carefully evaluate their decisions before relocating abroad, emphasizing the tough realities that come with living overseas.
Speaking in an interview with Teju Babyface, Momodu argued that having between N30 million and N40 million in Nigeria is enough to establish a comfortable life and invest in business opportunities. He urged Nigerians to consider setting up ventures such as farms or ranches instead of seeking greener pastures abroad.
According to him, security challenges exist everywhere, citing a past incident in New York where about 3,000 people reportedly lost their lives in a single day. He stressed that despite such occurrences, Americans have not abandoned their country.
Momodu pointed out that the allure of living abroad often fades when one begins to pay bills independently. He noted that while visiting family members abroad comes with a warm welcome, the situation changes when one moves permanently and has to fend for themselves.
“The moment you rent your own house and start covering your expenses, you begin to experience the harsh reality of life abroad. There’s no mercy—once your money runs out, survival becomes difficult,” he said.
Momodu urged Nigerians to reassess their options before making the decision to relocate, warning that life abroad may not be as glamorous as it seems.
