Julius Oni, an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, has disclosed his return to Nigeria with the aim of improving access to high-quality orthopedic surgical care, reducing the need for Nigerians to travel abroad for treatment.
In a recent video shared on Facebook, Oni, who also serves as the CEO of XI Capital, a private equity multifamily real estate company, expressed his belief that Nigerians deserve exceptional medical care.
Oni said, “Well, six weeks ago, I relocated from the U.S. to Nigeria. I took a leave of absence from my job at Johns Hopkins, sold my house, sold my cars, packed my bags alongside my lovely wife and beautiful children, and moved after 25 years of living in the USA.
“I know at this point some of you may call me delusional or even crazy, but I’m neither. I’m just a man full of conviction. I am Dr. Julius Oni, Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, and also the CEO at XI Capital, a private equity multifamily real estate company. I happen to believe that Nigerian patients deserve great care too. As part of my mission, I have started Doc Medical Nigeria, which offers high quality musculoskeletal care to the population.
“Part of my effort is to provide access to care so that people do not have to travel to access high quality orthopedic surgery care.
“I am humbled to say that people are coming from near and far, near as Ghana and as far as the U.K.
“There are many patients that would otherwise would have traveled, but now have access to high quality orthopedic surgery on the ground. To learn more, give us a follow, and I’ll continue to share the journey right on this platform.
