Onyejekwe Izuchukwu, a Nigerian businessman residing in the United States, was discovered deceased in a hotel located in Lagos State’s Ikoyi area.
The 62-year-old had checked into the hotel on June 7, 2024, and tragically passed away on June 9, 2024.
Izuchukwu, who served as President of Bits and Drilling Tools, a division of Schlumberger, had returned to Nigeria for business purposes.
He was found in his hotel room by a cleaner around 7pm on June 9, 2024.
The hotel’s Assistant Chief Security Officer promptly alerted the police, with the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirming the businessman’s death.
Hundeyin said: “Izuchukwu was found lifeless on the floor of the hotel room.
“A doctor confirmed him dead and his corpse has been deposited in a morgue in Ikeja for autopsy.
“The command has commenced an investigation into the case.”
