UK-based Nigerian, Olawanle advises on buying properties, getting loans in UK

UK-based lawyer and author, Dele Olawanle, has offered advice to Nigerians looking to purchase properties, secure loans, and sign agreements in the United Kingdom.

Olawanle shared this brief statement titled “BUYING PROPERTIES, GETTING LOANS, AND SIGNING AGREEMENTS IN THE UK” in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.

The statement sighted by allnaijadiaspora.com reads, “I know fellow Nigerians are intelligent and witty, and they want to get things done quickly.

“I want you to know that there are many frauds going on in the property market involving estate agents, mortgage advisers, bridging loan companies, and others. There are also shark loan companies and agents.

“Please do not deal with them without a Solicitor. Do not sign documents without seeing them in full. Do not buy a property in another person’s name. Do not pay money to someone in another currency or another country without a proper agreement witnessed by lawyers. Do not enter into loan agreements without getting proper legal advice. It will save you a lot of harm if you get legal advice. Please do not say I trust you with vast amounts of money. Be careful.

“Most Nigerians want to do things quickly, and they think getting legal advice or paying a lawyer is expensive, thereby being penny-wise and pound-foolish.

He added, “I cannot disclose the mess a lot of people have gotten themselves into, but don’t underestimate the importance of what I write or say on social media. Do not be the next victim. Things are happening.
