Premier League heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing 17-year-old Nigerian-born striker George Ilenikhena.
According to a report by Belgian outlet Voetbal Krant, George Ilenikhena is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Premier League heavyweights are scouring the market for a striker and have identified the 17-year-old as a target. Meanwhile, Royal Antwerp will demand at least €20 million to part ways with the teenage sensation.
Who is George Ilenikhena?
George Ilenikhena has been an exceptional signing for Royal Antwerp in the last 12 months. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, the teenage prospect spent most of his formative years in France, graduating from the youth division at Amiens SC. Meanwhile, he is eligible to represent France and Nigeria on the international stage.
The 17-year-old has enjoyed an excellent 2023/24 campaign thus far, amassing 14 goals and one assist in 1,816 minutes across 46 appearances in all competitions. However, the youngster’s future at Royal Antwerp is uncertain, as the Belgian outfit need to balance the books in the summer transfer window.
So, Ilenikhena is one of the candidates to leave Royal Antwerp in the summer transfer window, as he is a high-value asset. The teenage prospect has no shortage of suitors, with Premier League heavyweights and Serie A giants keen on signing. And the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium might be his next destination.
London calling?
The report by Voetbal Krant has claimed that George Ilenikhena is high on Tottenham’s wishlist heading into the summer transfer window. The North London giants need a prolific striker after failing to fill Harry Kane’s void last year. So, several strikers, including Samu Omorodion, have emerged on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar.
But Ilenikhena is also a viable target for the North London outfit, considering his price tag. While Royal Antwerp will look to make a profit from the youngster’s sale, he will only cost around €20 million in the summer transfer window.
Considering George Ilenikhena’s potential and current performance levels, €20 million is a fair price for his services. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham will meet Royal Antwerp’s valuation to sign the 17-year-old Nigerian-born striker. However, they might face stiff competition from Inter Milan for his signature.
