Nottingham Forest set to challenge Man Utd for Osimhen

Nottingham Forest is reportedly planning an ambitious move to outpace Manchester United in the race to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen during the summer transfer window.

Manchester United has long identified Osimhen as a key target to strengthen their attack, but they now face unexpected competition from their Premier League rivals.

According to TEAMtalk, Forest is exploring the possibility of securing the Nigerian forward as part of their strategy to sign a top-class striker, particularly if they secure a Champions League spot by finishing in the Premier League’s top five.

Club owner Evangelos Marinakis is eager to bring an elite number nine to Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad.

In addition to Osimhen, Forest has also shown interest in Viktor Gyökeres, another target for Manchester United.

However, reports suggest that the Swedish forward is not keen on a move to the City Ground.

Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in exceptional form, netting 26 goals in 30 appearances.

While Manchester United was previously expected to lead the race for his signature upon his return to Napoli, Forest’s growing interest could make the competition more intense.

Securing a high-profile striker like Osimhen remains a challenging task, even if Forest qualifies for the Champions League, but the club is determined to make a statement in the transfer market.

Should he join, Osimhen would reunite with his fellow Nigerian internationals, Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina, at the club.
