The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), KN Nandap, has advised Nigerians living in Europe to stop using agents for international passport applications, emphasizing that the newly automated system is designed to be user-friendly and efficient.
Mrs. Nandap gave this advice during an ongoing sensitization tour of the United Kingdom, France, and Rome, where Nigerians were educated on the benefits of the recently introduced contactless passport application system.
She explained that the NIS discourages the use of agents due to frequent cases of errors and distortions in applicants’ critical data, which often lead to complications in passport processing.
With the new system, applicants can now complete the entire process independently, from application to passport delivery, without the need for intermediaries.
Mrs. Nandap also encouraged Nigerians to take advantage of the newly launched 24-hour quick response channels for assistance if they encounter any challenges while using the system.
The NIS officially launched the contactless passport application system on February 7, using the United Kingdom as its coordination center for Nigerians residing in Europe.
