NIS launches contactless passport application system for Nigerians abroad

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has unveiled its new Contactless Passport Application System (CPAS) mobile app, designed to streamline the passport application process for Nigerians.

The NIS highlighted that the app offers a seamless way for Nigerians to apply for passports directly from their smartphones, marking a significant step in modernizing the passport application process. The app aims to reduce physical contact and eliminate delays.

Currently, the app is geo-fenced, making it accessible only to Nigerians residing in Canada and the United States. However, plans are in place for global access, with a full launch scheduled for December 1, 2024.

This new initiative will provide Nigerians abroad with a secure, efficient, and user-friendly platform for handling passport-related services. The global release of the “NIS Mobile” app is expected to make the process more convenient for Nigerians worldwide.

The NIS emphasized its commitment to improving services by embracing technological solutions, with the app now available for download on Google Playstore as “NIS Mobile.”
