Nigerian opens African Kitchen in Gloucester

Maggie Everitt’s 18-year dream of sharing her passion for Nigerian cuisine became a reality on Thursday with the grand opening of Ma’s African Kitchen on Barton Street in Gloucester.

Everitt was joined by a host of dignitaries for the opening ceremony, including Gloucester Mayor Kathy Williams, Mock Mayor Jon Eeles, and Town Crier Alan Myatt.

“It’s been a long journey, and to finally see Ma’s African Kitchen open is truly overwhelming,” said a visibly emotional Everitt. “We’re thrilled to bring something new and exciting to the Gloucester food scene, offering the city its first dedicated Nigerian cafe.”

David Everitt, Maggie’s husband of 11 years, shared his pride and excitement. “It’s amazing to see this dream finally come to life. Maggie has always talked about opening a cafe and has spent years perfecting her recipes at home. Now, everyone gets to experience the joy of Nigerian flavours.”

Mayor Williams highlighted the significance of Ma’s African Kitchen for Gloucester. “It’s an honour to be here today and celebrate this exciting new venture,” she stated. “Maggie’s vision brings something unique to Gloucester, showcasing the diversity of our city’s culinary offerings. Seeing passionate entrepreneurs like Maggie opening businesses fills us with confidence for Gloucester’s future.”
