Nigerian man arrested in Cambodia for attacking on security guard, police officers with machete

A 36-year-old Nigerian man named Onyebuchi has been arrested in Cambodia for allegedly attacking a security guard and police officers with a machete.

The incident took place on June 30, 2024, in Prey Ta Nou Village, Chak Angre Leu Commune, Mean Chey District, Phnom Penh.

According to reports from Cambodian media on July 3, Onyebuchi attempted to enter a building while wielding a machete. When a security guard tried to stop him, Onyebuchi struck the guard on the hand and then fled into the building.

Authorities arrived and chased the suspect to the third floor, where he attacked the officers, injuring one in the hand. The injured officer required 20 stitches.

Onyebuchi was eventually subdued and taken into custody for questioning. The incident remains under investigation
