NAPTIP rescues two-year-old girl trafficked for ₦100k

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued a two-year-old girl who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba, Abia State, and allegedly sold for ₦100,000.

According to a statement released on the agency’s official Facebook page on Friday, the child—now identified with the alias Chiamaka Favor—was rescued on May 8, 2025, by NAPTIP’s Abia State Command.

The agency revealed that the suspected trafficker, who had collaborated with three different trafficking rings in Abuja, was apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abia State and later handed over to NAPTIP for further investigation.

“The child, trafficked in February 2025, was sold to a buyer in Aba for ₦100,000. Investigations into the broader trafficking network are currently ongoing,” the statement noted.

NAPTIP has appealed to the public for assistance in locating the child’s biological parents or any relatives, urging anyone with useful information to contact the agency promptly.

This rescue comes just weeks after NAPTIP, in partnership with the Taraba State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, successfully rescued eight children who had been trafficked from their homes to various locations including Aba, Onitsha, and parts of Imo State.
