King Charles III features Davido on exclusive commonwealth playlist

Renowned Nigerian-American Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been included in King’s Music Room, a specially curated playlist by King Charles III of England.

Unveiled in honor of Commonwealth Day 2025, the playlist showcases musical talents from across Commonwealth nations, reflecting the King’s appreciation for diverse global sounds.

Davido joins an elite group of artists, including Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, Grace Jones, and Raye, further cementing his influence in the global music industry.

His selection highlights the rising prominence of Afrobeats and its significant role in shaping contemporary pop culture.

In a statement issued by Buckingham Palace on Friday, King Charles III shared his motivation behind the playlist, emphasizing music’s deep personal significance.

“Music has always been an important part of my life. It has the power to evoke happy memories, offer comfort in difficult times, and transport us to different places,” the King stated.

“Most importantly, it has an extraordinary ability to uplift our spirits. I wanted to share songs that bring me joy, as a meaningful way to celebrate Commonwealth Day. Thank you for listening—I wish you every possible blessing.”

Set for release on Apple Music on March 11, King’s Music Room is expected to introduce a wider audience to Afrobeats and other musical styles from the Commonwealth.

While the specific Davido song featured remains undisclosed, fans eagerly anticipate its reveal.

This recognition from King Charles III further solidifies Davido’s position as one of Africa’s most influential music figures, reinforcing Afrobeats’ growing dominance on the international stage.
