Chisom Chigbo, a Nigerian woman, has shared her inspiring migration journey, encouraging others to remain adaptable in their pursuit of a better life abroad.
In a viral post, Chisom emphasized the importance of flexibility when facing challenges in reaching one’s dream country, advising people to consider alternative destinations while staying focused on their ultimate goal.
Reflecting on her own experience, Chisom explained how she initially faced difficulties in securing Canadian residency while still in Nigeria. After several unsuccessful attempts, she decided to explore new opportunities when the United Kingdom opened its borders to families. Without hesitation, she moved her family to the UK, seizing the chance to live and work there.
Despite this shift, Chisom did not give up on her Canadian dream. Once settled in the UK, she resumed her Canadian immigration process and, much to her surprise, successfully obtained permanent residency in Canada within just six months.
Chisom cautioned that delays in the migration process could make it harder to relocate in the future, urging others to remain strategic and open to different possibilities.
She wrote, “If the country of your dreams is difficult to enter, try relocating to another country while you continue pursuing your goal.
“This is what I did. I tried to get into Canada from Nigeria, but it was challenging until the UK opened its borders for families. My family and I seized that opportunity and didn’t look back.
“When I resumed my Canadian immigration process, my family and I were granted permanent residency in under six months from the UK.
“Relocating is a mindset—if you don’t act when the opportunity arises, it may become too difficult later.”
