Chelsea’s Maresca addresses Osimhen, Joao Felix transfer speculation

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca faced questions regarding the club’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen and Joao Felix ahead of his debut match against Manchester City.

The Blues have been active during a hectic summer transfer window, bringing in 10 new players, including Pedro Neto, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Renato Veiga, Omari Kellyman, Caleb Wiley, Mike Penders, and Aaron Anselmino.

After a £34.5 million deal for Spanish U-21 forward Samu Omorodion fell through due to contract disputes, Chelsea quickly opened talks for a permanent move for Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, who previously spent time on loan at Stamford Bridge.

Reports suggest Chelsea is nearing a £40 million deal for Felix, which could lead to Conor Gallagher’s £33 million transfer to Atletico Madrid.

Maresca commented on potential squad additions, saying the club is aware of his transfer expectations. Despite their already busy summer, Chelsea remains keen on bolstering their attack, with Felix now a prime target after the Omorodion deal collapse.

Additionally, rumours indicate a potential swap deal involving Victor Osimhen. Chelsea is reportedly prepared to offer two players plus £39 million to land the Nigerian striker, who is eager for a Premier League move after a failed transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

When questioned about the potential deals for Felix and Osimhen, Maresca commented, “The only thing I can say is they are not our players so it’s not correct to talk about a Napoli player or Atletico Madrid player.”

He further added, “The club knows exactly what I think in terms of what we need and hopefully before we finish the transfer window, we can bring in some players.”
