‘Bigger transfer than Osimhen’: Expert weighs in on Dijk’s rumored move to Galatasaray

Turkish football expert Yusuf Kenan Çalık has commented on rumors linking Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk to Galatasaray, claiming the potential move would surpass Victor Osimhen’s transfer in significance.

Victor Osimhen has been a sensation since joining Galatasaray earlier this season. The Nigerian striker has scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 15 matches across all competitions, earning him widespread acclaim and making him a fan favorite.

Despite Osimhen’s remarkable impact, Çalık believes that van Dijk’s rumored move to the Turkish club in the summer would make an even greater statement.

The Dutch defender, widely regarded as one of the world’s top center-backs, is reportedly on Galatasaray’s radar as his contract with Liverpool is set to expire next summer, allowing him to negotiate with foreign clubs starting in January.

Speaking to Habersarikirmizi, Çalık emphasized van Dijk’s stature in football:

“We are talking about one of the top five defenders in the world. I wouldn’t even compare him to Davinson Sanchez in terms of his career. He could be the best defender to come to Turkey.”

He added, “It will be a bigger transfer than Osimhen. Van Dijk is still in great form, and his arrival would be a monumental signing for Galatasaray.”

The prospect of van Dijk joining Galatasaray has already sparked excitement among fans, as the club looks to strengthen its squad for future campaigns.
