Affangha: NIDCOM boss lauds pageant winner for impactful interventions

The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has praised Miss Manyi Affangha, the Face of Culture Africa winner, for her significant contributions to society.

According to Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Head of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols at NIDCOM, the commendation was made during a courtesy visit by Affangha and her team to the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Balogun, who represented the NIDCOM boss, noted that Affangha’s dedication to addressing issues like hunger, poverty, and female-child abuse through her platform has opened up new opportunities for her to expand her impact.

“Dabiri-Erewa, equally an advocate for youth, encouraged the Nigerian Beauty Queen to mentor more younger Nigerians, especially as most youths have resorted to crime and other societal ills.

“The NIDCOM chairman advised the Face of Culture Africa Queen, to represent the nation, well, and utilise the new skills to be learnt, for national development.”

The spokesperson noted that, “Following her winning the Face of Culture Africa, Affangha got nominated to represent Nigeria at the UN Best Diplomats Conference holding in London in September.”

He said earlier, Affangha said that the nomination came as a surprise to her, assuring that she will never let Nigeria down in all her endeavours.

According to the pageant winner, the project wqs aimed at poverty alleviation, girl-child education, and youth empowerment.

“In addition, she named Rivers, Cross Rivers and Enugu states as well as the FCT as beneficiaries of the project since her emergence as the reigning Queen in 2023.

“Affangha promised to use her wealth of experience and influence to promote African culture, especially in Nigeria.

“She noted that the conference holding between September 27-30, 2024, in London, UK was geared towards training delegates on foreign policies and global matters,” the statement read in part.
