Why I moved out of my mother’s house —Anthony Joshua

Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has announced that he has moved out of his mother’s house in preparation for his upcoming match against Daniel Dubois in September.

Despite his immense wealth, Joshua had chosen to live with his Nigerian mother, Yeta, in their North London flat.

When asked why he continued to live with his mother at the age of 34, despite having a net worth exceeding £100 million, Joshua explained that it allowed him to spend quality time with her whenever he was in London.

However, during an interview on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Joshua confirmed that he has now moved out.

Reports suggest that the former two-time heavyweight champion has relocated to his mansion in London.

Explaining his decision to move, Joshua stated that he wanted to ensure his mother was well taken care of in his absence.

“I didn’t want to leave my mom alone,” Joshua said. “I wanted to make sure that her foundations were strong—the nest was strong—so that when I leave, mom’s good. For me, that’s freedom. Knowing no matter where I am in the world, mom’s happy and taken care of.”

Joshua is set to compete against fellow British heavyweight Daniel Dubois on September 21 at Wembley Stadium in London, with the IBF belt on the line. Should he win the title, Joshua may have the opportunity to challenge for the undisputed heavyweight title against either Oleksandr Usyk or Tyson Fury, who are scheduled to fight in December.
