Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, affirmed that the Federal Government remains committed to addressing visa denial concerns for Nigerians by actively engaging with other nations.

At a Sectoral Briefing in Abuja, organized by the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Tuggar emphasized Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to negotiate with countries where visa denials occur, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the interests of Nigerians collectively.

“It should be noted that Nigeria has one of the highest global mobility in the world,” Tuggar said.

Highlighting the strides achieved under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Tuggar revealed that 25 Memoranda of Understanding were inked across various sectors, with engagements of 74 stakeholders domestically, 236 internationally, and five within the diaspora community.

Also, Tuggar noted the significant engagement of over 10,278 diasporans, along with 56 bilateral meetings and three joint Commission/Senior official gatherings, including the EU–Senior Officials Meeting, India–Joint, and US–Binational Commission.

Regarding the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ initiatives for the Year of Return, Tuggar emphasized collaborative efforts with other government bodies, notably the Ministry of Interior, to streamline access to Nigeria for interested visitors.
