UK announces new laws for work permits for Nigerians

The UK has introduced new measures aiming to reduce low-paid foreign labor and the total number of migrants.

The minimum salary threshold for individuals entering the UK on a Skilled Worker visa has risen by 48%, going up from £26,200 to £38,700.

The implementation of this policy ensures that foreign workers cannot be remunerated at a lower rate than their British counterparts.

The government’s objective is to incentivize employers to prioritize the British workforce.

According to the Home Office, this increase will also reorient the immigration system to prioritize highly skilled individuals needed for the economy, while reducing the total number of immigrants.

It’s time to turn off the taps and end the flow of cheap workers from abroad. Mass migration is unsustainable, and it’s simply not fair. It undercuts the wages of hard-working people who are just trying to make ends meet.

As of April 4th, the authorities have also eliminated the inventory of occupations experiencing labor shortages, as the government believes that no sector should rely solely on foreign labor. Consequently, employers are no longer permitted to pay immigrants in shortage occupations less than their British counterparts.
