Tension as hyena escapes from Nigerian Wildlife Park

The Plateau State Tourism Corporation (PSTC) has reported that a hyena has escaped from its enclosure at the Jos Wildlife Park.

This announcement was made in a statement issued by the corporation on Monday, July 8, 2024, in Jos, following the discovery of the missing animal.

The Jos Wildlife Park is renowned as one of Plateau’s leading tourist attractions and a key conservation area in Nigeria.

The park’s management issued the announcement to caution the public and seek assistance in locating the hyena.

“The hyena is currently being tracked by our dedicated team of game-guards and park-rangers with the help of drone technology,” the statement read.

“We assure the public that we are taking all necessary measures to locate the escaped animal and ensure its safe return to its enclosure as soon as possible.

“We kindly request the public to remain calm and avoid approaching the hyena if sighted. Please notify the park authorities immediately at 09026927620 or 09131000945.

“We thank you for your cooperation and promise to update the public as soon as the situation is resolved.”
