South African man begs Nigerians after Bolt prank

A South African man, who identified himself as Grand Dilan, has taken to social media to urge Nigerians to stop participating in the ongoing Bolt ride prank.

In a viral video viewed by Saturday PUNCH on Tuesday, Dilan was seen kneeling as he expressed concern over the situation, stating that it had escalated beyond control.

He explained that the prank, which originated from a rivalry between the two countries, has significantly harmed many businesses.

The trend began when some South Africans, while in their country, ordered Bolt rides in Lagos, Nigeria, only to cancel them once the drivers arrived at the pick-up locations.

In response, some Nigerians began ordering rides in Johannesburg and Cape Town from Lagos, subsequently canceling them as well.

In the latest video, Dilan pleaded with Nigerians to cease the prank, emphasizing that it had gone too far and was causing severe financial losses for many people.

He stated, “Nigerians, I’m on my knees. I’m begging you people to stop this. You guys have skyrocketed to another level,” he said.

“You guys have damaged a lot of businesses back in South Africa. So many businesses have closed apps. This is getting out of hand. You are destroying people’s businesses. You have destroyed millions.”
