The Nigerian Government has been revealed to have run up one of the biggest debts for refusing to pay the London congestion charge.
The Nigeria High Commission owes Transport for London £8.3m in unpaid charges and fines, according to figures obtained by allNaijadiaspora.com.
A total of 146 embassies have C-charge debts, with a total outstanding of over £150million.
United State has the highest debt of £14.6million. Japan is second on £10m, India is third on £8.8 and Nigeria fourth on £8.3m.
The central London zone was introduced by Ken Livingstone in February 2003. Embassies that refuse to pay do so by claiming that the charge is a tax, from which they are exempt.
TfL insists the C-charge is a charge for a service, from which there is no exemption.
