Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is ramping up efforts to enhance agriculture and its value chain through recent trips to Finland and Sweden.
During his visit to Sweden, the governor engaged with prominent Nigerian business leaders and organizations, including Matajet Global Resources and the Sweden-based Nigerian International Agric Trade Organisation. These organizations have contributed to Nigeria’s agricultural sector by hosting seminars and exhibitions in Ibadan in 2022 and 2023.
Makinde expressed his intention to collaborate with the Nigerian business community in Sweden, commending Matajet for its expertise and contributions to agricultural development.
Mary Brakner, founder of Matajet and CEO of Yeye Oge Fashion, led the Nigerian-Sweden business delegation that welcomed Governor Makinde.
Additionally, the governor was invited by SchoolTRY AB, a Nigerian company in Sweden, to a business dinner hosted by the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO-Sweden), chaired by Halima Balogun-Amedu.
Accompanying Governor Makinde were notable figures, including political leader Adebayo Lawal, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu—the first female Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly—and Dr. Debo Akande, Director General of the Oyo State Agricultural Development Agency.
