Renowned football transfer expert, David Ornstein, has poured cold water on speculation linking Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen with summer moves to either Manchester United or Arsenal.
Speaking to NBC Sports, Ornstein explained that despite ongoing rumours, the Napoli forward is not being considered by either Premier League side in the upcoming transfer window.
Manchester United, according to Ornstein, are focused on securing a new attacking midfielder and a striker this summer, regardless of whether they secure European football.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are planning to strengthen both midfield and attacking positions, with a winger also likely if one departs.
Ornstein confirmed that players such as Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko are among Arsenal’s potential targets, while bigger-name players like Alexander Isak and Osimhen appear to be off the table.
In the case of United, the club’s attention is reportedly on Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, who has a £30 million release clause that becomes active if his club is relegated.
The young forward is expected to decide on his future before the UEFA U21 Championship.
Although Osimhen remains under contract with Napoli until 2026, tensions between him and the club’s hierarchy have sparked rumours about his departure.
Last summer, the Super Eagles star attracted interest from Chelsea and Saudi outfit Al-Ahli, but both deals fell through due to financial disagreements.
Galatasaray have also shown interest in securing Osimhen’s services, but Napoli’s €75 million release clause could pose a significant obstacle.
Despite the uncertainty over his future, Osimhen continues to deliver on the pitch, netting 30 goals across all competitions this season.
