Nigerians in diaspora play active role in nation building, NiDOA says

The Diaspora Organisation Americas (NiDOA) has announced that its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Conference will take place from November 22 to November 24 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

Victor Ubani, the Coordinating Chair of NiDOA and the Coordinating Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NiDO) Worldwide, emphasized the significant role Nigerians in the diaspora play in nation-building.

The conference, themed “New Nigeria: Fresh Progress, Vision for United NiDO,” aims to foster unity among Nigerians living abroad. Ubani highlighted that this year’s AGM presents a valuable opportunity for the diaspora to come together as a cohesive family, with Wole Oke, Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, serving as the special guest of honor.

He stated that now is an ideal time for Nigerians to collaborate closely and contribute to the country’s development. According to Ubani, participation in the conference is essential for Nigerians outside the country to facilitate meaningful progress at home.

He further noted that whether at home or abroad, Nigerians enrich the nation’s narrative by acknowledging the vital contributions of the diaspora community to nation-building.

Data from the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) estimates the Nigerian diaspora population at approximately 17 million as of 2024.
