The Federal Government of Nigeria has completed and submitted all required documents to Finland to facilitate the extradition of Simon Ekpa, a prominent Biafra agitator accused of terrorism-related activities.
This was disclosed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, during an interview on Channels Television.
“Well, I’m sure he’s cooling off somewhere. Legal action will be taken accordingly. I don’t want to say too much, but I’m glad he’s been arrested,” General Musa stated, expressing confidence in the Finnish authorities’ cooperation with the documentation provided.
Ekpa was arrested by Finnish authorities in November 2024, alongside four others, on allegations of inciting violence, promoting separatist propaganda, and financing terrorism.
Following his arrest, the Lahti District Court in Finland ordered his detention on charges of public incitement to commit crimes with terrorist intent in Nigeria.
Ekpa is reportedly notorious for leveraging social media to advocate for the violent secession of Nigeria’s southeastern region under the Biafra movement.
His activities have drawn widespread criticism and raised serious concerns about national security and unity.
