Irish man berates Nigerian man’s reunion with his 7 children in Dublin

An Irish man has voiced concerns about the increasing influx of Nigerians to Ireland, following a viral video of a Nigerian father relocating his seven children to Dublin.

The video, shared by a Nigerian woman who traveled to Ireland with her six siblings on a family visa to reunite with their father, has ignited debate.

Michael O’Keeffe, addressing the issue on X, criticized the surge in relocations through asylum and family reunification channels.

He remarked, “A Nigerian man comes to Ireland, applies for asylum, and after being granted family reunification, brings his wife and seven children to Ireland. We are being overwhelmed. This situation is simply not sustainable.”

O’Keeffe highlighted that there are currently 6,295 Nigerians seeking asylum in Ireland, with 173 new family reunification requests submitted last month.

His comments have sparked a range of reactions, with some expressing concerns about the rapid growth of Nigerian communities in Ireland and suggesting measures such as deportation.
