Greek-Nigerian Star gets married in Greece

Greek-Nigerian basketball star Giannis Antetokounmpo and his long-time partner Mariah Riddlesprigger, the mother of his three children, were married in a ceremony held in Greece on Sunday, as reported by various media outlets.

The wedding took place at the luxurious Costa Navarino resort near Pylos in the Peloponnese. The event, which unfolded over three days, featured a white dress party on Friday and a Nigerian-themed celebration on Saturday.

Khris Middleton, a close friend and teammate of Antetokounmpo with the Milwaukee Bucks, served as the best man during the “hybrid” Orthodox and Catholic ceremony, according to Skai TV.

The guest list included notable figures such as NBA superstar LeBron James, Greece national team coach Vassilis Spanoulis, and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, along with his family. Approximately 200 guests attended the event.

Antetokounmpo, known as the “Greek Freak” and a prominent global ambassador for Greece, has achieved remarkable success in basketball, overcoming a challenging childhood. Born to Nigerian immigrants who arrived in Athens in 1991, he grew up in a working-class area of the Greek capital and supported his family by selling trinkets.

The Proto Thema newspaper reported that the couple sought to keep the wedding completely private, with all involved parties signing confidentiality agreements to ensure no media coverage.
