Benfica’s Kerem Aktürkoğlu reacts to Victor Osimhen’s stunning goal

Benfica forward Kerem Aktürkoğlu has shared his admiration for Victor Osimhen’s incredible acrobatic goal during Galatasaray’s impressive 3-0 win over Antalyaspor at Corendon Airlines Park Antalya Stadı on October 19.

Osimhen, who came off the bench in the 78th minute, displayed his exceptional skill by overpowering his defender and executing a powerful overhead kick following a well-placed free-kick from Hakim Ziyech.

The Nigerian international’s goal has captured significant attention across Europe, with Turkish media noting it as one of only two overhead kicks in football history to exceed a height of 2.30 meters. Osimhen’s strike reached an impressive height of 2.32 meters, just 0.06 meters short of Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 2.38 meters, achieved during a Champions League quarterfinal between Real Madrid and Juventus in April 2018.

In response to the goal, Aktürkoğlu, a former Galatasaray player, expressed his amazement in comments relayed by NTVSpor: “Osimhen’s goal is really impressive; there’s nothing more to say. We were all surprised—he’s a fantastic player.

“Of course, I would have loved to play alongside such a great talent. But I’m not needed right now. Yunus is shining, and he will only get better.”

Aktürkoğlu joined Benfica this summer on a five-year deal after struggling to secure a spot in the Galatasaray lineup. The 26-year-old has had a strong start in Portugal, scoring six goals and providing five assists in eleven appearances across all competitions.

It remains to be seen whether Osimhen’s remarkable goal will be considered for the prestigious FIFA Puskás Award, which honors the most aesthetically pleasing goals scored by male and female players each year.
