A woman has been hospitalized after being attacked by a tiger while working at Dreamworld, Australia’s largest amusement park, according to local media reports on Monday.
The Australian news agency AAP reported that the woman, who is a trained animal handler, suffered injuries to her arm and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
A Dreamworld spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating, ‘Dreamworld acknowledges an incident involving one of the park’s tigers and a trained tiger handler. This was an isolated and rare occurrence, and we will conduct a thorough review.’
Dreamworld, located on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, houses nine Sumatran and Bengal tigers.
