The Nigerian Centre, the first immigrant and cultural hub for the Nigerian diaspora in the United States, has received a $50,000 grant from the Washington DC Government, Walmart, and individual supporters.
This funding announcement was shared by the Centre’s Executive Director, Gbenga Ogunjimi, on the organization’s website.
Ogunjimi highlighted that this contribution will strengthen the Nigerian Centre’s mission to provide impactful legal and financial services to Nigerian immigrants. The funding will support two key programs in 2025: the Immigration Access Program, which assists with navigating immigration challenges, and the Path to Prosperity Program, designed to foster economic opportunities.
“Immigration and economic justice are essential for any immigrant to pursue the American Dream. As a volunteer-led organization, we deeply appreciate the support from the DC Government and Walmart,” Ogunjimi said.
The donation will enable the Centre to maintain and expand these critical services for Nigerian immigrants across Washington, DC, and surrounding communities, bolstering their pathways to legal support and economic empowerment.
