Tragic shooting: Nigerian Boxer Isaiah Olugbemi fatally shot by neighbor in US

A Nigerian boxer residing in the US was tragically shot and killed by his neighbor, Nicholas Francis Xavier Giroux, aged 36.

The incident, which resulted in the death of Isaiah Olugbemi, has led to charges of first- and second-degree murder against Giroux. The court proceedings are scheduled to commence on July 17.

Isaiah Olugbemi, described as an up-and-coming boxer, was fatally shot multiple times in Odenton, Maryland, on Monday night. Despite efforts to save him, Olugbemi succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Baltimore.

According to police reports and court documents, surveillance footage captured Giroux approaching Olugbemi with a handgun, firing multiple shots, and fleeing the scene on foot. Giroux reportedly confessed to the shooting on June 18.

Abraham Olugbemi, the victim’s brother, stated that Giroux had previously threatened Isaiah with a gun on two separate occasions earlier in the year – once in January and again in June. During the fatal incident, Giroux allegedly fired between six to fourteen shots initially, paused, and then fired at least three more rounds.

Giroux is currently being held without bond, as ruled by an Anne Arundel County judge.
