President Bola Tinubu extended his heartfelt congratulations to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), on the occasion of her 62nd birthday, which falls on Friday, October 11.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised Dabiri-Erewa’s dedication to improving Nigeria through her various public service roles.
The President highlighted her distinguished career, which gained national attention during her time as a broadcaster with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). “She became known for her expertise in human-interest stories and for skillfully anchoring the weekly NTA Newsline program with flair, empathy, insight, and credibility,” he noted.
President Tinubu emphasized her significant contributions beyond journalism, particularly her efforts to strengthen the connection between Nigeria and its diaspora. “Her work has made us all proud and appreciative,” he remarked.
He commended Dabiri-Erewa for her exemplary service as Chair of the House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, and as the inaugural Chairman and CEO of NiDCOM. The President acknowledged her tireless advocacy for the rights of Nigerian migrants and her role in promoting investment opportunities between Nigeria and the diaspora.
Furthermore, President Tinubu recognized her as a role model for women in politics, stating, “Her relentless dedication, optimism, courage, and commitment to excellence inspire many Nigerian women to pursue leadership roles in the political arena.”
In closing, he prayed for Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa’s continued good health and many more years of service to the nation.
