Tinubu: Diaspora forum supports Ndume, accuses North East elders of sabotage

In a strong declaration of support for Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, the Southern Borno In Diaspora (SBID) group has endorsed his recent comments on the issues of hunger and insecurity under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. This follows a wave of support from various concerned groups in Nigeria.

SBID highlighted the detrimental impact of the removal of fuel subsidies and other federal policies, attributing severe hunger, insecurity, and growing hopelessness among average Nigerians to these measures. The group’s President, Elder Solomon Mshelia, expressed confidence in Senator Ndume’s dedication and service to the people of Borno South.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, Mshelia supported Ndume’s statements made on Arise TV, where he remarked on the prevailing hunger and insecurity under the current administration. SBID also criticized the North East Elders Forum (NEEF) for condemning Ndume’s remarks, accusing them of sabotage and being disconnected from the harsh realities faced by the nation.

“SBID cautioned some acclaimed North East Elders Forum (NEEF) who recently issued a press statement condemning our Senator, Mohammed Ali Ndume, the Chief Whip at the Red Chamber,” Mshelia stated. “As far as we are concerned, the acclaimed NEEF are not only saboteurs but far from the true reality of the economic and social vices affecting the nation.”

Mshelia emphasized that Senator Ndume’s long-standing support from his constituents, having been elected for six consecutive terms, is a testament to his effective representation. He noted that Ndume’s work is widely commended beyond Borno State.

“The statement by the North East Elders Forum is dead on arrival because the intention of the group was to cause discord, not patriotism,” Mshelia added.

SBID, a non-political group, insisted that Senator Ndume’s media engagement with Arise TV was in the best interests of the common masses. They urged him to continue his steadfast efforts to ensure good representation and address the critical issues facing Nigeria.
