Nigerian nationals seeking a visa to Thailand can now apply online through the country’s newly introduced e-visa process, the Royal Thailand Embassy in Abuja has announced.
The embassy confirmed that it will no longer accept physical visa applications. This updated policy also extends to several other African nations, including Ghana, Cameroon, Benin Republic, Congo, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, and Chad.
In its statement, the embassy emphasized that applicants must be residing in one of these countries at the time of their application. If applicants fail to provide proof of residence in the stated countries, their visa applications may be canceled.
Applicants are required to submit a travel booking confirmation with their visa application. This must include return flight details showing the applicant’s name, departure, return dates, and all connecting flights from the relevant country to Thailand. The embassy also noted that processing times typically take up to five working days, though delays may occur in certain cases.
Visa applications should be submitted four to six weeks before the intended travel date, but no more than three months in advance.
The embassy also highlighted that the visa fee is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of the application, and that processing fees may change without prior notice.
Applicants should also be aware that the embassy reserves the right to request additional documents, conduct in-person interviews in Abuja, amend visa categories as needed, or reject applications without explanation.
The embassy strongly advised all applicants to provide accurate and truthful information, warning that legal actions would be taken against anyone found submitting false or misleading documents.
