Six die in UK car, motorbike collision

Six individuals, including four adults and two children, tragically lost their lives in a collision between a car and a motorcycle in West Yorkshire, UK.

According to BBC, the accident occurred at around 15:55 BST on Sunday on the A61 Wakefield Road, which connects Wakefield and Barnsley. The collision involved a Ford Focus and a motorcycle.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that a man, a woman, and two girls traveling in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. The motorbike riders, also a man and a woman, were similarly confirmed deceased.

The crash, which happened between Staincross and Newmillerdam, has led to the closure of the road between Shaw Lane and Warren Lane. The road is expected to remain closed for a significant period as investigations continue. Police are urging witnesses to come forward.

Supt Alan Travis of West Yorkshire Police described the incident as “absolutely tragic,” extending condolences to the families affected and noting that support is being provided to them.

The scene was marked by ongoing police activity overnight. The road, illuminated by the lights of a nearby petrol station, remains closed as a lorry is deployed to recover the vehicles involved. The tragedy has cast a profound sadness, leaving families in mourning and seeking answers.
