Six Countries with visa fees under ₦100,000 for Nigerians

For many Nigerians, visa fees can be a significant hurdle when planning international travel.

The costs, coupled with other travel expenses, often make overseas trips seem unaffordable. However, some Asian countries offer visas at surprisingly low rates, making travel more accessible.

Here are six Asian destinations where Nigerians can obtain a visa for under ₦100,000:

South Korea

The cost of a single-entry visa for South Korea is ₦60,000 for stays of up to 90 days and ₦90,000 for longer visits. Applicants must provide a passport valid for at least six months, a completed visa application form, and a recent passport-sized photograph. Additional requirements include proof of financial stability, such as a personal bank statement or credit card statements, as well as confirmed flight and hotel bookings. A copy of a National ID card, driver’s license, or voter’s card (issued within the last five years) is also required.

Visa processing takes approximately 10 to 15 business days (2–3 weeks), and the application fee is non-refundable regardless of approval status.

Japan

As of April 2024, Japan’s visa fee for Nigerians is ₦12,500. Applications must be submitted in person at the Embassy of Japan in Abuja, strictly by appointment. Appointments must be booked at least 15 working days before departure, and applications must be submitted no later than 10 working days before travel.

Applicants must present a valid passport, a completed visa application form, a recent passport-sized photo, flight booking details, hotel reservations, and proof of financial capability, such as a bank statement. Minors may have their appointments scheduled by a parent or guardian, but they must submit their applications in person.

Singapore

The visa processing fee for Singapore is $30 (₦45,000) and must be paid online using a Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card. Required documents include:
• A valid Nigerian passport with at least six months’ validity and two blank pages
• A completed and signed visa application form
• Passport-sized photographs meeting Singapore’s specifications
• A detailed travel itinerary, including flight and accommodation bookings
• Proof of sufficient financial means to cover the trip

Visa processing typically takes three working days, though some applications may take longer.

Sri Lanka

Nigerian passport holders must obtain a regular visa before traveling to Sri Lanka. The double-entry tourist visa, valid for 30 days, costs $50 (₦75,000).

The application process requires:
• A passport photograph
• A valid passport with at least six months’ validity beyond the travel period
• Proof of financial means (such as a bank statement)
• A detailed travel itinerary

All visa fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Vietnam

Nigerians traveling to Vietnam must meet specific entry requirements, including a passport valid for at least six months with at least two blank pages.

The visa fees are as follows:
• Single-entry visa: $25 (₦37,500)
• Children under 14 years: The same fee applies, regardless of visa validity.

Travelers are advised to ensure all documents are in order before submitting their applications.

Thailand

The single-entry tourist e-visa for Thailand costs ₦65,000. Applicants must submit:
• A passport valid for at least six months with at least two blank pages
• A completed visa application form
• A recent passport-sized photograph
• Proof of sufficient funds
• A return travel ticket
• Accommodation details (hotel reservation or host’s address)
• An original police clearance certificate
• A drug clearance certificate

Additionally, a travel booking confirmation showing return flight details, name, and departure/return dates is required.

Applicants should apply 4–6 weeks before their travel date but no more than three months in advance. Visa fees are non-refundable, regardless of the application outcome.

These six Asian countries offer affordable visa options for Nigerians, making international travel more accessible. However, it is essential to meet all application requirements and apply well in advance to avoid delays.
