Semi Ajayi to leave West Brom as club offers fresh deals to young Nigerian forwards

West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that Nigerian international Semi Ajayi will part ways with the club when his contract expires on June 30, 2025, following the conclusion of the 2024–2025 Championship season.

Ajayi, who has struggled with injuries this season, was sidelined for 29 league games as well as cup matches against Fleetwood Town and Bournemouth.

The 31-year-old defender made a brief return to action on the final day of the season, playing the last 37 minutes after Kyle Bartley was forced off due to injury—marking his farewell appearance for the Baggies.

Ajayi signed for West Brom from Rotherham United in 2019 and made a total of 177 appearances during his stint, with 147 starts to his name.

He scored 13 goals, including standout efforts against Premier League sides Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Meanwhile, at the academy level, the club has extended new contract offers to three promising forwards of Nigerian heritage—Eseosa Sule, Dan Chimeziri, and Divine Onyemachi.

Sule, who previously spent time in Celtic’s youth ranks, made his senior debut for West Brom this season, coming on as a substitute in the final stages of their Carabao Cup match against Fleetwood Town.
