Chido Obi-Martin, a Denmark U18 international of Nigerian descent, has set a new record as the all-time highest goalscorer in the U18 Premier League, surpassing former Everton striker Ellis Simms.
Obi-Martin, currently with Manchester United, achieved this feat during a 3-0 victory over Stoke City at Clayton Wood Training Ground on Saturday.
The 17-year-old striker, a product of Hale End Academy, scored the opening goal and later converted a penalty in the 71st minute after being fouled by Otegbayo. This goal took his tally to 37, surpassing Simms’ record of 36 goals.
Obi-Martin has had an impressive start to his career at Manchester United, scoring five goals in his first five U18 Premier League matches. Prior to joining United, he scored 32 goals in 20 appearances for Arsenal’s U18 team.
Notably, three of the top seven all-time scorers in the U18 Premier League are of Nigerian descent, with Folarin Balogun in third place and Crystal Palace’s Victor Akinwale in seventh.
Obi-Martin expressed his excitement on Instagram after achieving the milestone, celebrating his remarkable achievement.
The striker recently signed a two-and-a-half-year professional contract with Manchester United, keeping him at the club until at least the end of the 2026-2027 season, in accordance with FIFA regulations for players under the age of 18.
