Nigerians suffering, review prices of petrol, Christian Elders beg Tinubu

The National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) has urged the Nigerian government to reduce petrol and electricity costs to alleviate the financial strain on citizens.

In a statement following their recent meeting, the forum emphasized the need for President Bola Tinubu’s administration to address the pressing challenges faced by Nigerians, particularly by reviewing fuel and electricity pricing.

Dr. Samuel Danjuma Dani, Chairman of NCEF and former Deputy Governor of Taraba State, highlighted the importance of improving security, especially for farmers in rural areas who are essential to the country’s food supply. He noted that recent increases in petrol prices have led to a significant rise in the cost of food and other essential goods, contributing to widespread hardship and sparking protests among the populace.

The NCEF called for a reconsideration of the recent petrol price hikes, asserting that a reduction would help ease public suffering.

They also advocated for lower electricity tariffs to enable Nigerians to produce goods and services more economically, ultimately boosting productivity and creating job opportunities for the youth.

The forum expressed confidence in the government’s ability to implement these measures, believing that doing so would significantly alleviate the hardships currently faced by many Nigerians.
