Ambassador Abubakar Jidda, the newly appointed Consul-General of Nigeria in New York, has encouraged Nigerians living abroad to contribute their ideas and investments towards the development of their home country.
He made this call while meeting with a delegation from the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO), New Jersey Chapter.
During the meeting, Ambassador Jidda highlighted ongoing efforts to install passport printing machines in New York and Atlanta, aimed at easing the passport issuance process and reducing reliance on Washington, DC.
He emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s prioritization of diaspora affairs and pledged to support Nigerian businesses and organizations aiming to expand into significant entities.
Ambassador Jidda assured the delegation of his commitment to enhancing consular services for Nigerians in his jurisdiction, emphasizing the importance of harnessing Nigerian talents and resources abroad for national development.
He also expressed readiness to engage with diaspora communities on issues such as trade, healthcare, and education, promising to facilitate direct interactions with relevant government agencies.
Since assuming office, Ambassador Jidda has engaged with Nigerians through a townhall meeting and plans to conduct further meetings to address their concerns and disseminate government policies effectively.
He reiterated his dedication to collaborating with diaspora Nigerians in advancing Nigeria’s interests globally.
