Nigerians bag diaspora awards in US

A United States-based Afrocentric publication, Diaspora Glitz Magazine, has recognized several Nigerians, along with other Africans, for their outstanding achievements across various fields.

These awardees were honored for their significant contributions, which have not only brought pride to Nigeria and Africa as a whole but also amplified their voices in their respective areas of expertise.

The prestigious Global African Diaspora Awards (GADA) took place on Saturday, September 21, at the Park 8 Event Centre in Houston, Texas. Among the notable personalities in attendance were former Miss Universe Nigeria, Hannah Felix, and Miss Diaspora Nigeria USA 2024, Oyemen Ehikhamhen.

According to a statement issued by Obi-West Utchaychukwu, the founder and executive producer of GADA, honorees and guests came from countries such as the US, Canada, and Norway, among others. The event attracted a diverse group of attendees, including executives from the oil and gas sector, tech and healthcare professionals, legal experts, entrepreneurs, entertainment industry leaders, and community advocates.

The awards were presented in various categories, with Dr. Arinze Onwumelu from Calgary, Canada, receiving Healthcare Personality of the Year; Lydia Aguebor from Houston, US, honored as Business Person of the Year; and Ola Iromini from Atlanta, US, named IT Professional of the Year.

Additional award recipients included Pastor Rich Aghahowa of OFM Houston, US, for the Leadership Impact Award; Ms. Jorji of Austin, US, as Entertainer of the Year; Engr. Princepaul Agbonlahor of Houston, US, for Music Executive of the Year; Dr. Collins Aihie of Houston, US, for Corporate Personality of the Year; and Anthony Ndah of Houston, US, as Businessman of the Year.

Other notable awards were presented to Adetutu Adeparusi, Businesswoman of the Year; Esther Imuentinyan Edokpayi, Entrepreneur of the Year; Gaius Chibueze (Bitcoin Chief) for the Business Impact Award; Kim Nzeogu, Realtor of the Year; and Titus Durojaye, Designer of the Year, all from Houston, US.

Expressing his gratitude to the distinguished attendees, Utchaychukwu revealed that GADA plans to host the event in different countries in the coming years.
