U.S. Marshals in Texas apprehended Sharday Bakare, a Nigerian woman accused of murdering her 2-year-old son.
Bakare faces charges including first-degree murder, aggravated child neglect, and aggravated child abuse.
The incident unfolded in Memphis, Tennessee, last September, when emergency responders found Bakare’s son unresponsive, bruised, and bleeding.
Despite efforts at the scene, the child succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Authorities located Bakare in Glenn Heights, Texas, on June 17 without incident. She awaits extradition to Tennessee.
Earlier, Bakare’s boyfriend, Anthony Andrews, was indicted for the murder and abuse of the child. Andrews, currently in Shelby County Jail, allegedly confessed to excessive discipline that led to the child’s fatal injuries.
