The National Association of Nigerian Students in Diaspora has ushered in a new set of executives, with a renewed commitment to uphold the country’s image and contribute to its development.
At the association’s 2025 Inauguration Ceremony and Public Lecture, the newly elected President, Comrade Juwon Fayomi, assured that the more than 2.5 million Nigerian students studying abroad would continue to support national progress.
Speaking at the event, Comrade Fayomi emphasized that building the Nigerian nation requires the collective effort of all citizens, regardless of their location.
He expressed his intention to foster stronger collaboration with NANS in Nigeria, particularly on issues concerning student welfare, while also promising to initiate developmental projects during his administration.
The Father of the Day, Mr. Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, praised members of the diaspora association for their consistent efforts in projecting Nigeria positively across the globe.
He urged them to remain dedicated to improving the nation’s image, wherever they may be.
Mr. Asadu, who is also a traditional ruler, expressed concern over the way Nigerian green passports are sometimes treated with disdain at international airports, describing the situation as unfortunate and undeserved.
Other speakers at the event commended the diaspora students for their peaceful conduct and encouraged them to maintain their admirable behavior.
A notable moment during the ceremony was the coordinated swearing-in of newly elected executive members across different countries.
This year’s lecture centered around the theme: “NANSD – A Global Panacea for Reshaping the Image of Nigeria Worldwide.”
