A Nigerian woman, Victoria Oladesu, has tragically passed away shortly after arriving in the United Kingdom to meet her new grandchild for the first time.
The grandmother reportedly died on Tuesday while visiting her son, Hezekiah Oladesu, to celebrate both the birth of her grandchild and her daughter-in-law’s graduation.
The Nigerian community in the UK shared the heartbreaking news on Thursday via its official X account.
According to the community, the family now faces the difficult task of raising funds to repatriate her remains to Nigeria for burial. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to seek financial support from Nigerians.
“What was meant to be a joyful occasion has sadly turned into a time of unimaginable grief,” the community stated.
Mrs. Oladesu’s body is currently at the Hull Royal Infirmary Mortuary.
