Nigerian-born Canadian Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism, Dr. Akolisa Ufodike, has encouraged Nigerians, particularly the youth, to take advantage of the numerous legal avenues available for migration and success.
Dr. Ufodike made this statement during his visit to Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), in Abuja. The visit aimed to explore strategic collaborations and partnerships on multiculturalism and immigration, leveraging mutual strengths to promote the interests of Nigerians abroad and encourage regular migration.
The Minister offered his services as a Resource Person for NiDCOM, sharing his expertise and experiences to support national initiatives.
Regarding regular migration routes, Nigerians hold the top spot among foreign-trained doctors in Canada, rank second in terms of international students, and are the fourth highest group seeking permanent residency in the country.
“We are delighted to have you visit us and explore ways to work together,” Dabiri-Erewa stated. “Your offer to serve as a Resource Person demonstrates the commitment of Nigerians in the Diaspora to giving back to their country.”
She emphasized that the visit highlights the importance of collaboration between Nigerians in the Diaspora and NiDCOM in promoting regular migration and harnessing the potential of the Diaspora community for national development.
Dabiri-Erewa reiterated NiDCOM’s dedication to engaging with Nigerians abroad to foster regular migration, entrepreneurship, and investment in Nigeria.
