Renowned British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori has debuted a captivating 23-foot-tall installation at London’s famous Piccadilly Circus.
The artwork, titled “Good Things Come To Those Who Wait,” draws inspiration from Greek mythology, particularly the figure of Anteros, the Greek god of returned love.
Located at the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain, a landmark built in the late 19th century to honor Anthony Ashley Cooper, the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury, known for his philanthropic contributions, Ilori’s installation adds a modern flair to the historic site.
The creation features winged sculptures inspired by Anteros, perched on brightly colored orange and yellow plinths. These plinths, wrapped around the fountain, are adorned with motivational messages, infusing a contemporary touch into the iconic location.
Yinka Ilori, an alumnus of London Metropolitan University, is celebrated for his multi-disciplinary approach to art and design. His work, distinguished by bold colors and geometric patterns, has been featured in numerous exhibitions and public commissions around the world.
In 2022, he gained widespread recognition for designing a community playground in Parsloes Park, Dagenham, showcasing his signature vibrant style.
Ilori’s latest installation at Piccadilly Circus, commissioned by Art of London, will be on display from August 20 to 25, offering both Londoners and visitors a unique fusion of classical mythology and contemporary design in one of the city’s most iconic public spaces.
